Mariano Rivera
Mariano Rivera is an ex-professional baseball player, participated in 19 MLB seasons for the NY Yankees from 1995 to 2013. The baseball community nicknamed him “Mo” and “Sandman” since he mostly played as a Yankee relief-pitcher for 17 seasons. Rivera is considered one of the best baseball players of all time under the pitcher role. He earned records as the most game saved in consecutive seasons and posted an ERA under 2.00 in 11 seasons. In all of his career, he achieved 2.21 ERA and 1.00 WHIP which is the lowest among other qualified pitchers. He is also known for popularizing the cut fastball across leagues, precise control, smooth pitching motion, and composure on the field. Rivera retired in 2013 with number 42 uniform.
